Grow an island brewery three times over, without losing the headstrong island character that made people love it.

Texels is a small, headstrong beer brand with big ambitions in a crowded speciality-beer market, up against names like Leffe, Affligem, Duvel and La Chouffe. After joining Heineken Nederland, it faced a classic but serious challenge: grow hard in volume and national awareness, without losing the unique, small-scale charm of the island brewery.

The tension at the heart of it, scaling up under a marketing powerhouse while keeping that authentic, hand-made feeling, was exactly what the work had to solve.

The insight was the island itself. What makes Texels Texels is its stubborn, do-it-our-own-way island mentality. So instead of hiding the small-scale origins behind big-brand polish, we leaned all the way into them.

The idea: convince the whole of the Netherlands to choose Texels, from that same headstrong island mentality. A large-scale campaign that feels small-scale and wilful in everything it does. Whatever we make, we make it "Op z'n Texels", the Texel way.
